Fell in love with Lucie Kaas at the Formland Fair 2012
The very first stand I visited at the fair was Lucie Kaas and it was the perfect start to my trade fair visit. I had a long and interesting conversation with Esben Gravlev Rasmussen who is behind the company Lucis Kaas, and I must admit, he made a big impression on me this Sunday.
Lucie Kaas is behind the relaunch of Scandinavian design from the 1950s to the 1970s. Designers as by Gunnar Flørning, Arne Clausen and Esben himself, is to find in Lucie Kaas’ collection.
Esben is clearly passionate about his work and he had so many good stories to tell about the designs he represents. Good stories associated with each design, see that’s something we like.
Pictures from the top: Wooden figures designed by Gunnar Flørning which, despite being behind some of the biggest successes in the wooden art, is relatively unknown to most Danes. The cat was particular used for award ceremonies of the Thalia theater group. Big danish actors as Dirch Passer, Ghita Nørby and Bodil Steen has received the cat at the award ceremonies. The lovely elephant is designed in close collaboration with Harry Vedøe which also has illustrated drawings for Benny Andersen’s children’s books. The sparrow was designed in Gunnar Flørnings factory in Copenhagen. Inspired by the little sparrows who proudly with protruding chest always was to find around the factory windows.
TABLE PEOPLE is a fantastic name for this group of fine egg cups which was relaunched this year. The egg cups is from the 60s, but most theese is designed by Esben himself. In the collection you will also finde some of the original table People.
These fine blocks are inspired by old timbered houses. It’s Esben himself, who designed the building blocks. He told me that he was inspired by the big fire in Copenhagen back in 1728, and with these blocks it’s possible to rebuild Copenhagen… what great story!
The Norwegian artist Arne Clausen (1923-1977) stands behind one of Scandinavia’s greatest design successes of the ’60s. The bowls with the iconic pattern was produced by the Norwegian firm Cathrine Holm, and it was this pattern which provided the company an international breakthrough.

august 17, 2012 at 12:19I needed to compose you this bit of remark to finally give thanks once again for all the superb information you have contributed here. It is surprisingly generous with you to make openly precisely what numerous people might have sold as an ebook in order to make some dough on their own, certainly seeing that you could have done it in case you desired. These tricks also worked as the great way to understand that many people have the same eagerness the same as my personal own to figure out a good deal more pertaining to this condition. I am certain there are several more pleasant sessions in the future for individuals who read carefully your site.
